“Welcome to a much, much larger world.” These were the first words uttered by the huge police robot known as G.O.L.E.M., or Golem, as he stepped from his flying saucer in the middle of the Nation Mall in 1951. Golem claims to be of extraterrestrial origin representing a Galactic Organization, or G.O.

His stated reason for coming to Earth was to inform us all that we were entering a period of probation for entry into the galactic community. Despite the tremendous blow to the collective ego of humanity. Golem managed to maintain calm with deft diplomatic aplomb.

However, it seems the G.O. prohibits the use of atomic weaponry and nullified the Earth’s entire nuclear arsenal. This, as you may expect, caused a tremendous uproar. Much of it was quelled when Golem presented the cures for all forms of cancer to the UN. The United States was further quieted by Golem’s revelation that certain members of the US government and military were trading with a renegade alien force.

After straightening out that mess, Golem began actively combating the consequences of the alien technology unleashed upon the world by BEM and his minions.

Golem’s robot body is tremendously strong and durable. He has been known to lift an Abrams M1A2 tank and survive ordnance from same. He can has inbuilt sensors that are far more sensitive and have broader range than human senses or Terran technological instrumentation. He has some sort of beam weapon he projects from his eye visor that can cut through eight inches of steel. Also Golem’s artificial intelligence allows him to interpret and faultlessly emulate human emotions.

Until World War III, Golem had access to a flying saucer than traveled at relativistic speeds with in the Earth’s atmosphere and could reputedly go faster than the speed of light outside the atmosphere. The saucer was destroyed by an attack by BEM’s forces. Even without the saucer, Golem can propel himself through air and space. . Also, somewhere in orbit around Earth is a selective dampener that prevents the use of nuclear weapons.
